Recent Topic Focus Percentages

The main discussion of Personal Finance Blog Topics presents a summary of the topics covered by recent posts at the time the survey was conducted for each blog.  Below is a large table that details the percentages of recent posts in each blog that fall into seven topic categories.  The categories are defined in more detail on the Recent Topics Definitions page.  Like the other tables in the Guide to Personal Finance Blogs, the table below can be searched, sorted and filtered.  You can go directly to any of the blogs listed by clicking on the links in the “Blog URL” column.  The information in the table was most recently updated at the end of October 2017.

Colors are assigned to each blog based on the topic that is mostly (more than 50% of the time) discussed in recent posts.  These topic colors are:

  1. Red – Saving/Budgeting
  2. Orange – Investing
  3. Yellow – Life
  4. Green – Frugality
  5. Blue – Earning
  6. Purple – Debt/Credit
  7. Pink – Financial Independence and Retire Early (FIRE)

The designations in the “Recent Topics Focus” column determine the colors for each row of the table following the above color scheme.  Also, gray is used when “Mixed” is shown in this column, which represents blogs that recently covered a wide range of topics, with no one topic covered more than about 50% of the time.
